'learning is a great adventure'

School Re-opening April

16th April 2021

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone has managed to keep safe and happy during the current lockdown. The Chief Minister has announced that we are working towards a full exit from restrictions on Monday 19th April, which is welcome news. I am sure this has been a challenging time for everyone and we have appreciated the support and positive home learning feedback from all our parents.

The Education Minister has requested us to plan to open our school on Monday 19th for all children. This means that we will not need to socially distance in school and can continue with most of our usual routines and procedures. The opportunity to interact and work closely together is really important to all of us and we are delighted that we will be able to teach and learn again as a whole school. However, we will be asking parents to avoid coming into school wherever possible in the short term, to comply with track and trace requirements, although Reception arrival will remain the same. Mrs Parslow will be back in our office and be able to support parents as usual.

Teachers will be greeting children in the playground from 8.45am on Monday and escorting their class into school. We are back in school with uniform as usual and we have school lunches organised for those that choose. Our last day of home learning provision will be Friday 16th April but our address will continue to be monitored daily and we will be happy to answer any questions by return.

We had planned to schedule a Parents’ Evening in April but we feel it will be best to postpone that in view of the recent lockdown. We really value these meetings and are looking at dates in May when everyone has had time to settle back into school.

We can’t wait to see the children back in school and I am sure there will be lots of excitement as everyone finally meets up again in school. The Summer Term is always a busy one and we have lots of great activities and adventures already planned.

Best wishes

Just a quick update to confirm we are planning to welcome all children back into school on Monday 19th April. We will be returning to school in uniform and lunches will be provided as normal. The playground will be open from 8.30am on Monday and our teachers will be on duty from 8.45am. We will advise plans for the term when we return including trip and play dates. Home learning will finish on Friday 16th April.

We are really looking forward to seeing all the children and parents again so fingers crossed that the weekend brings confirmatory news!!

April 9th

Dear Parents

We have been advised that the DESC is planning to re-open schools from next week, which is really exciting news. We are currently making plans for the children's return and are waiting for final confirmation, which is dependent on any Covid developments.

The school will operate as a hub school for the children of essential workers from Tuesday 13th April and we have set up a web page (Hub Application April 2021) to advise parents on how to apply for a place according to DESC criteria.

Home learning will continue for all children next week from Monday 12th April and follow the usual provision and format for each class.

We are hoping that we can welcome all children back in school under our usual routines from Monday 19th April ready for the new term. Please see the appropriate web pages for additional details.

Best wishes
