Our Year 1 children have been full of enthusiasm as they explored some of the Isle of Man’s most iconic landmarks, from Ballaugh Bridge and Mooragh Lake to Tynwald Hill, Marine Drive and the Tower of Refuge. Their wonderful drawings and beautifully written sentences show just how much they’ve enjoyed discovering these special places. Even better, their work is a brilliant example of how they are already meeting the aims of the Island’s English Entitlement and Assessment Framework, which sets clear expectations for children’s progress across the primary years.
By writing simple, meaningful sentences, using capital letters and punctuation, and choosing adventurous words to describe places they know and love, our Year 1s are developing exactly the key skills the framework highlights. Their growing confidence, careful presentation and pride in their writing shine through every piece - and it’s wonderful to see them building such a strong foundation as young writers.
