Our Year 6 pupils at Sulby School have been diving into their Hola Mexico! project with real enthusiasm, producing work that shows both strong research skills and genuine creativity. Looking at topics such as Día de los Muertos and the Chihuahuan Desert, pupils gathered information from a range of sources and learned to filter what they found - selecting key facts, organising them clearly, and presenting them in their own words. Their posters and reports show thoughtful decisions about layout, headings, and illustrations, with pupils combining factual accuracy with eye‑catching designs to help communicate their ideas effectively.
The written outcomes also demonstrate important elements of the Isle of Man Writing Entitlement for Year 6, particularly in producing non‑chronological reports that are coherent, well‑structured and tailored for an audience. Pupils have used precise vocabulary, controlled paragraphing, and clear explanations to convey their understanding, while accompanying artwork and diagrams show how confidently they can present information in multiple formats. Altogether, the project has offered a rich opportunity to blend knowledge, creativity and developing literacy skills - and the finished pieces are a real credit to their hard work and growing independence as learners.
