At Sulby School, we provide a broad, balanced, and high‑quality curriculum built around our adapted version of the Cornerstones Curriculum, a nationally recognised framework that ensures breadth, progression, and comprehensive coverage of year‑group expectations. Cornerstones provides the structure, challenge, and clarity needed to maintain high standards, while giving us the flexibility to shape learning so that it reflects our community, our values, and our place on the Isle of Man.

Through its creative, thematic approach the curriculum offers rich, motivating learning experiences that help children make meaningful links between subjects. We believe pupils learn best when they are immersed in engaging contexts, encouraged to think creatively, and supported to apply their learning in real and relevant ways.

While Cornerstones ensures the rigour, progression, and national expectations needed for a high‑quality curriculum, we place great importance on weaving in a strong Manx dimension. Wherever possible, we build connections to our island’s landscapes, heritage, culture, and stories. These local links help pupils develop a deep sense of identity and place, enriching their learning and strengthening their understanding of what it means to be part of the Manx community.

Throughout the year, pupils face a wide range of purposeful challenges that encourage them to solve problems, express themselves confidently, and think both independently and collaboratively. The Cornerstones framework provides clear, age‑related knowledge and skills milestones, enabling staff to track progress carefully and tailor learning effectively for all children.

Our curriculum is therefore both globally informed and proudly local, ensuring children at Sulby receive a rich, ambitious education that champions our GREAT values while celebrating the uniqueness of our island home.
