We consider the personal and social development of your child to be an essential part of our provision; happy, enthusiastic and confident children with positive self-esteem are likely to be more able to engage with and enjoy successful learning. If we have any concerns about a child’s welfare we usually involve parents at an early stage. We also appreciate parents advising us of any changes at home which may affect your child. There are many things that can cause a child to behave differently at school, including; the arrival of a new baby, family changes or hearing of an upsetting event. Friendships are an important part of school for all children and ‘fallouts’ or disagreements can be potentially distressing for any child. You are always welcome in school to visit us or to talk about any concern in confidence.

To support us in the personal and social aspects of children's learning, we have a PSHE curriculum which runs through the school. We use the 'Kapow!' program, a scheme which aims to give children the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that they need to effectively navigate the complexities of life in the 21st Century. The curriculum covers key areas which will support children to make informed choices now and in the future around their health, safety, wellbeing, relationships, and financial matters and will support them in becoming confident individuals and active members of society.

You can see the topics covered in each year group's PSHE lessons in the document below;
