Our Curriculum

At Sulby School, our curriculum is designed to bring our GREAT values - Global, Respectful, Enthusiastic, Ambitious, and Thoughtful - to life in every classroom and learning experience. Rooted in our adapted, localised version of the Cornerstones Curriculum, our approach provides rich, relevant, and engaging learning that meets the needs of every child.

We believe that children learn best when they are inspired, challenged, and encouraged to make meaningful connections. Through creative, knowledge-rich topics and carefully sequenced learning, pupils develop curiosity, critical thinking, and the confidence to explore their own ideas. Our curriculum integrates subjects through engaging themes, helping pupils understand the real-world purpose of their learning and supporting them to discover and develop their individual talents.

The Impact of Our Curriculum

The impact of our curriculum is seen in the rounded, confident learners who thrive at Sulby. Hands-on projects and enquiry-led learning foster independence, creativity, and a genuine love of learning. Because our curriculum is flexible and responsive, it aligns closely with national expectations while also meeting the diverse needs, backgrounds, and interests of our pupils.

Alongside our core curriculum, pupils benefit from a comprehensive PSHE programme using the Kapow! scheme, which equips them with essential life skills, emotional understanding, and the ability to build healthy relationships. Through age-appropriate learning about wellbeing, safety, and personal development, pupils grow in resilience, empathy, and self-awareness.

We also make full use of our beautiful surroundings through our Outdoors Curriculum, which offers purposeful opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. Outdoor learning supports physical and mental wellbeing, nurtures teamwork, and builds confidence as pupils explore nature, take on challenges, and develop valuable life skills. This rich blend of indoor and outdoor learning creates a dynamic, holistic experience that helps every child flourish.

Together, these elements shape a curriculum that nurtures Globally minded young people, Respectful citizens, Enthusiastic learners, Ambitious thinkers, and Thoughtful problem-solvers - children who are truly ready for their future.
